Chandigarh: The Competent Authority of Panjab University has appointed Prof. Rumina Sethi, Department of English & Cultural Studies, PU on Thursday for a period of 1 year with immediate effect.
Prof. Rumina Sethi has joined as Dean of University Instructions, PU today itself. Biographical Details—Rumina Sethi Rumina Sethi is Professor at the Dept. of English and Cultural Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh, India. She holds a PhD from Trinity College, Cambridge, and was a British Academy Fellow at Oxford. Professor Rumina Sethi has been a Senior Associate Member at the Department of English, Oxford University and has also held various Fellowships at the University of Cardiff, Wales, and at the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla.
In 2006, she received the prestigious Rockefeller Foundation Fellowship at Bellagio, Italy. She is the recipient of several awards such as Beit Fellowship at Oxford, the Michael Polak Foundation Research Award, the Charles Wallace Award, the Gilchrist Educational Research Award, the Indian Women’s Educational Association Research Award, and the prestigious Mountbatten Educational Trust Award. She has also been the recipient of Smuts Memorial Fellowship at Cambridge.
Rumina Sethi was nominated to the General Council of the Sahitya Akademi (National Academy of Letters), New Delhi, which is the supreme governing body of the Akademi. Her books include Myths of the Nation (Clarendon, Oxford), The Politics of Postcolonialism (Pluto, London), and Reading India in a Transnational Era (Routledge). She has lectured widely and is published in many reputed international journals.
