CCPCR in collaboration with Chitkara International School, Chandigarh Holds Session on Child Rights & Responsibilities & Digital Well being

Chandigarh: Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) held a session dedicated to the Child Rights & Responsibilities, Digital Wellbeing and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for the students of Chitkara International School (CIS), Chandigarh. This session provided an empowering platform for educators, and students to enhance their understanding of child protection and the critical issues surrounding it.

 

Ms. Shipra Bansal, Chairperson of CCPCR, highlighted the paramount importance of child safety and security for a progressive nation. She emphasized that it is imperative for children to be aware of their rights and the legal instruments in place for their protection and safety. Furthermore, Ms. Bansal discussed a few case studies and underscored the significance of family time.

 

Her personal engagement with the young participants further highlighted the commitment to creating a safer environment for the future generations. She emphasized that, "Protecting children from sexual offenses is not just a legal obligation; it is our moral duty to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for our future generations." Her profound insights left an indelible mark on everyone present.

 

In addition to these crucial topics, the session also included informative videos and addressed the pressing issue of Cyber Safety, a subject that is increasingly relevant in today’s digital age. Students were educated about the various aspects of Cyber Security, the dangers of Cyber bullying, and the prevention of Cyber Crimes.

 

Ms. Shipra Bansal motivated the students by sharing her inspirational life experiences, instilling in them the importance of awareness and responsibility.

 

Ms. Ankita, POCSO Consultant at CCPCR, provided insight into the four broader categories of Child Rights, as defined by the United Nations Convention on Child Rights (UNCRC). She shed light on the significance of the POCSO Act and different forms of child abuse, empowering the students with knowledge and understanding. Mr. Kartar Singh, Legal Consultant, CCPCR also graced the occasion, making the session all the more special.

 

Dr. Niyati Chitkara, Director, Chitkara International School, extended a heartfelt Vote of Thanks to all attendees, participants, and contributors. She expressed heartfelt gratitude towards the Chairperson and other members of CCPCR for their unparalleled contribution towards enlightening the students. Dr. Chitkara said, "Knowledge is power, and through events like these, we empower ourselves to protect our children and create a safer society. Let us remember that by raising awareness and working together, we can build a world where every child is safe and protected, and where their dreams can flourish without fear." Her words added a powerful note of unity and commitment to the cause of child protection.

 

The session concluded on a patriotic note, with all participants joining in a collective rendition of the National Anthem, symbolizing unity and commitment to the cause of child protection.
