Chandigarh: Haryana Minister of State for Urban Local Bodies, Subhash Sudha said that urban local bodies are fully prepared to deal with monsoon challenges. For which the Swachh Safai Apnao, Bimari Bhagao (SABB) campaign has been formally launched in the state.
He said that this initiative will be active from July 1 to August 31, 2024, aiming to mitigate health risks associated with heavy rainfall. It focuses on maintaining high levels of cleanliness, effective waste management, regular cleaning of all community and public toilets, ensuring safe drinking water, water quality assessment, maintaining water facilities, implementing an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) plan, conducting door-to-door awareness campaigns, and promoting cleanliness in urban local bodies (ULBs).
Subhash Sudha highlighted that this initiative aligns with the 'Stop Diarrhea Campaign' by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, emphasizing comprehensive intervention and inter-departmental collaboration. The campaign includes rapid assessment to identify high-risk areas, adoption of the Protect, Prevent, Treat Strategy (PPTS), and robust coordination and monitoring. It prioritizes community participation, public awareness, community engagement and education, rainwater harvesting, post-monsoon maintenance planning, and integration efforts.
