District Election Officer held a meeting regarding rationalization of polling stations and revision of voter lists

Hoshiarpur: Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Komal Mittal today held a meeting with the representatives of political parties at the District Administrative Complex regarding rationalization of polling stations and revision of voter lists-2025. During the meeting, she informed that a program has been received from the Election Commission of India for revision of voter lists on the basis of eligibility date 1 January 2025. According to this program, draft roll publication on the basis of 1 January 2025 will be on 29 October 2024, the time for filing claims and objections will be from 29 October 2024 to 28 November 2024.


Apart from this, settlement of claims and objections will be done from 29 October 2024 to 24 December 2024 and final publication of electoral roll will be done by 6 January 2025. She informed that special campaigns will be run in the district on 9 November 2024 (Saturday), 10 November 2024 (Sunday), 23 November 2024 (Saturday) and 24 November 2024 (Sunday). During this, the booth level officers will sit at their respective polling stations from 9 am to 5 pm and receive claims and objections from eligible persons.

 

The District Election Officer informed that a total of 1563 polling booths have been set up in 7 assembly constituencies in the district. As per the instructions issued by the Election Commission of India, the maximum count of voters in a polling station has been fixed at 1500. There is no proposal to create any new booth in the district as the number of voters in any polling booth is not more than 1500. She said that after meeting with the political parties of the respective constituencies by the group election registration officers of the district, proposals have been sent by the election registration officers regarding repairs in polling stations, change of building, new mohalla (section).

 

The District Election Officer said that after rationalization in Vidhan Sabha constituency 39-Mukerian, the number of polling booths is 251 and no change has been made in the polling booths of this assembly constituency. After rationalization in Vidhan Sabha constituency 40-Dasuha, the number of polling booths is 224 and here there is a proposal to shift booth number 74 from Tehsil Office Dasuha to Government Elementary School Langarpur. There is a proposal to shift booth number 75 from Tehsil Office Dasuha to Government Elementary School Railway Road Dasuya. There is a proposal to shift booth number 121 from Government Elementary School Sansarpur to Government Elementary School Sanchakk Jogiana.

 

After rationalization in Assembly Constituency 41-Udmud, the number of polling booths is 221 and here booth number 131 DAV Girls High School Udmud has been renamed as Booth No. 131-DAV Skill Centre Udmud. Booth number 132 DAV Girls High School Udmud has been renamed as Booth No. 132-DAV Skill Centre Udmud. After rationalization in Assembly Constituency 42- Sham Chaurasi, the number of polling booths is 220. No change has been made in the polling booths in this Assembly Constituency. After rationalization in Assembly Constituency 43- Hoshiarpur, the number of polling booths is 214. There is no change in the polling booths in this assembly constituency. After rationalization in assembly constituency 44- Chabbewal, the number of polling booths is 205. There is no change in the polling booths in this assembly constituency.


After rationalization in assembly constituency 45- Garhshankar, the number of polling booths is 228 and here it is proposed to shift booth number 34 from Government High School Dhada to Government Elementary School Dhada. It is proposed to shift booth number 90 from Co-operative Society Moranwali to Government High School Moranwali. It is proposed to shift booth number 119 from Government Elementary School Pandori Beet to Government High School Pandori Beet.

 

Booth No. 187, 188 and 189 due to closure of the building of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Senior Secondary School, Garhshankar, these polling booths have been converted into Government Elementary School, Garhshankar (Boys), Government Elementary School, Garhshankar (Girls) and Kanya Vidyalaya School, Garhshankar respectively and after conversion, Booth No. 180 D.A.V College Girls, Garhshankar has been converted into Booth No. 181 D.A.V College Girls, Garhshankar; Booth No. 181 D.A.V College Girls, Garhshankar has been converted into Booth No. 182 D.A.V College Girls, Garhshankar; Booth No. 182 Kanya Vidyalaya School, Garhshankar has been converted into Booth No. 183 Kanya Vidyalaya School, Garhshankar; Booth No. 183 Government Elementary School Boys, Garhshankar has been converted into Booth No. 185 Government Elementary School Boys, Garhshankar; Booth No. 184
