"No one has courage to enter borders of India": Himachal Governor Shukla on airspace violation claims

October 13, 2024 04:33 PM

Shimla : In a recent online meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla addressed ongoing concerns regarding alleged airspace violations along the Chinese border in the state.

This meeting comes after statements made by Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi on drones being spotted on India-China border in state. The meeting comes in the wake of statements made by Himachal Pradesh Cabinet Minister Jagat Singh Negi, who claimed to have witnessed Chinese drones and planes near the Indian border.

Negi expressed that local residents were gripped by fear and anxiety due to these reported sightings, specifically in areas such as Rishi Dogri, near the Shipki La border, and the Pooh Block Headquarters.

"We have seen Chinese drones and aircraft in our skies, and the people living in these border regions are scared. This is not something we can ignore," Negi had said. However, during the meeting, Himachal Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla strongly refuted these claims. He expressed confidence in the nation's defense and border security measures, firmly denying the possibility of any airspace violations.

"Such a possibility is not possible at all because no one has the courage to enter and encroach upon the borders of India," the Governor said. When Cabinet Minister Negi was asked to clarify his earlier statements regarding the Shipki La region, he appeared to soften his stance. "It has no justification," Negi conceded, suggesting that previous reports of airspace violations might have been misunderstood or exaggerated.
