October 13, 2024 04:56 PM

Mumbai : Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut hit out at the Maharashtra government over the killing of Nationalist Congress Party leader Baba Siddique, and said the case points towards the failure of the Chief Minister.

Pointing out that Sanjay Raut had full state security, the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader alleged that there is no fear of police and law in the state. Speaking to ANI, Raut said "The death of Baba Siddique who has worked for so long in Maharashtra points towards the failure of the Chief Minister of the state. In Maharashtra, there has always been a good law and order situation. That is why big industries have come to Mumbai."

"Baba Siddique was provided with full state security and despite that, he was murdered. The way the Chief Minister has used the police is the reason that there is no fear of the police and the law," he added. Further, he said that the murders have been happening even in broad daylight in the state and further added that Devendra Fadnavis should reside from the post of the Home Minister.

"Murders are happening in the state in broad daylight. No one including the ministers is being spared. Till now, we have only said that Devendra Fadnavis is a complete failure but now we say that the Governor should intervene and remove Fadnavis from the post of the Home Minister."

Earlier, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde announced that NCP leader Baba Siddique would be cremated with full state honours, who was shot dead in Mumbai. As per the Chief Minister's Office, Siddique will be given full state honours as he served as minister in the Maharashtra government during 2004-2008 and also as chairman of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA).

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Crime Branch has registered a case at Nirmal Nagar Police Station in connection with the murder under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Arms Act and Maharashtra Police Act.

The case has been registered at Nirmal Nagar Police Station under Crime Registration No. 589/2024, Sections 103(1), 109, 125, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 3, 25, 5, and 27 of the Arms Act, and Section 37 and section 137 of the Maharashtra Police Act.

Siddique, a leader in Ajit Pawar's faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), was shot at near Nirmal Nagar in Bandra. He later succumbed to his bullet injuries at Lilavati Hospital late Saturday night.
