Ferozepur: An important meeting was held today at the Shambhu border, bringing together leaders from the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMSC) representing Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. Key issues were discussed, including the ongoing challenges farmers face regarding the delayed purchase and lifting of paddy across Punjab.
Sarwan Singh Pandher, a farmer leader representing KMSC, said on his 'X' that the Morcha at Shambhu border has entered its 274th day and will continue until the government does not meet the demand for an MSP legal guarantee, the waiving of farmers' loans, and other conditions.
The KMSC leaders strongly condemned the recent police lathi charge on farmers in the Rai Ke Kalan mandi in Bathinda, calling out the Punjab government for its treatment of protesting farmers. Warning against further aggressive measures, the Morcha emphasized that farmers would not be intimidated by force and urged authorities to address their grievances promptly. “Farmers are already suffering from delayed paddy procurement, lack of DAP, and nights spent waiting in mandis,” the leaders stated.
The Morcha also decided to celebrate Guruparv on November 15 at the Shambhu border, inviting the public to participate in the event in large numbers. In addition, KMSC leaders expressed solidarity with organizations working to preserve Panjab University, Chandigarh, pledging to stand by all efforts to protect Punjab’s cultural heritage.
Rajasthan farmer leader Ranjit Singh Raju presided over the meeting, which included prominent leaders Sarwan Singh Pandher, Manjit Singh Rai, Surjit Singh Phool, Jaswinder Singh Longowal, Baldev Singh Zeera, and others.
