SAS Nagar: Responding to the some public concerns regarding the proposed Eco-Sensitive Zone (ESZ) around Kansal, Karoran, and Nada, MLA Anmol Gagan Maan has clarified strongly the facts and assure residents of her commitment to protecting their rights and interests.

Throwing light on the Background of the Proposal, the MLA said that the Forest Department’s proposal was based on recommendations from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) and the Central Empowered Committee (CEC), which argued that a 100-meter ESZ would be insufficient for environmental conservation. However, the proposal is still in its draft stage and has not been finalized. The Cabinet will make a decision only after carefully considering the opinions of all stakeholders.

MLA Anmol Gagan Mann further said that she is fully confident that the proposal of the Forest department will be scrapped. MLA Maan emphasized that she has received numerous objections and concerns from residents regarding the Forest Department’s proposal, by adding that “I hear your concerns, and I stand with you. The Cabinet will review inputs received from various departments and the general public. Based on the overwhelming objections raised, I am confident that this proposal will be scrapped.”

She assured that No Demolition of Existing Structures will be done at any cost. “I want to firmly assure the people of Kansal, Karoran, and Nada that no homes, shops, hospitals, religious places, or other structures will ever be affected by any ESZ notification. Any claims suggesting demolitions are false, baseless, and intended to mislead the public. Rest assured, your homes and livelihoods are safe,” said Anmol Gagan Maan.

Expressing Commitment to Protecting People’s Rights, MLA Maan called on the public not fall prey to rumors. “I assure you that the government and I are fully committed to protecting the interests of the people. Any decision will be made keeping your rights and welfare as the top priority. Sustainable development does not mean compromising your homes or livelihoods,” she added.
