Renowned Lyricist Shamsher Sandhu's love for sports, new book released by Indian Hockey Captain Harmanpreet Singh

Chandigarh : Renowned lyricist and journalist Shamsher Sandhu, expressing his love for sports, released his new book 'Kithe Kho Gaye Chajj De Bande' here today. The honours were done by Indian Hockey team Captain Harmanpreet Singh and player Gurjant Singh.

Shamsher Sandhu, who has earned a reputation for writing songs, stories and prose, has written nine books so far but the present one is his first poetry book.

Shamsher Sandhu has made his mark by writing about Kabaddi players and Wrestlers and the new book was released at the Hockey Stadium in Chandigarh by the Captain of the Indian team Harmanpreet Singh and forward Gurjant Singh in the presence of sports writer Navdeep Singh Gill. Both the players have won two consecutive bronze medals for India in the Olympic Games in Paris and Tokyo.

Harmanpreet Singh congratulated Shamsher Sandhu and said that it is a matter of pride for him that today we are releasing the book of the famous lyricist. He further said that during the Hockey camps, all the players have been warming up by listening to the songs written by Shamsher Sandhu. He added that the songs written by Shamsher Sandhu which have been sung by noted singers like Surjit Bindrakhia, Satwinder Bitti, Surjit Khan etc. and have been inspiring us since long. He also said that now they will also read the poems of Shamsher Sandhu.

Shamsher Sandhu said that on the demand of his friends and readers, he has written a book of poems for the first time. The book has been published by Chetna Prakashan. The foreword has been written by the great poet Surjit Patar under the title ‘Shamsher Sandhu de chauthi Koot’. This is the last article of the Late Surjit Patar in which he welcomed Shamsher Sandhu to enter the field of poetry after songs, stories and prose and refreshed the memories of his university days. The book’s cover has been written by Prof. Gurbhajan Singh Gill, who has given a brief overview of the poet’s journey from his student life to literary interests till now.
