Nurpur: The Agriculture Department of Nurpur organized a farmers' awareness camp in Sulyali Loharpura, where experts from the Bio-Control Laboratory, Palampur, educated farmers about biological control methods.
During the camp, agricultural specialists, including Dr. Shailesh Pal Sood from the Nurpur Agriculture Department, Dr. Anju Thakur from the Bio-Control Laboratory, Palampur, and Agriculture Development Officer Dr. Rita Thakur, provided guidance on crop diseases and pest management. They inspected the fields and advised farmers on protecting wheat and vegetable crops from infections.
As part of the initiative, the department distributed organic pesticides, apple and plum saplings, and onion seedlings to farmers. Experts also demonstrated the use of nano urea and nano DAP and provided information on government agricultural schemes.
Dr. Anju Thakur emphasized the significance of biological pest control and introduced farmers to the bio-pesticides developed at the Palampur laboratory. She, along with other experts, visited farms in Sulyali, Loharpura, and Devbharadi to inspect wheat crops for yellow rust but found no signs of infection.
Approximately 50 farmers participated in the camp, which was supported by Arun Pathania. The initiative aimed to promote sustainable agricultural practices and equip farmers with modern farming techniques.
