Una; As part of the ongoing Road Safety Month, a road safety awareness camp was organized on Thursday at Government Senior Secondary School, Gondpur Jaichand, in the Haroli Assembly constituency. The camp was
presided over by Ashok Kumar, Regional Transport Officer (RTO) of Una.
Speaking on the occasion, RTO Ashok Kumar emphasized that the primary objective of Road Safety Month is to educate people about traffic rules to reduce road accidents. He highlighted that violations of traffic regulations, overspeeding, and reckless overtaking are major causes of accidents. He urged everyone to remain vigilant and responsible while using the roads.
The RTO advised students to stay away from substance abuse and drive with caution. He also encouraged them to assist road accident victims, explaining the Good Samaritan Scheme, which rewards individuals with a commendation certificate and ₹5,000 in cash for helping injured persons reach the hospital within the golden hour.
The event featured various activities, including a quiz, a poster-making competition, and a speech contest on road safety.
The camp was attended by School Principal Dilawar Singh, along with faculty members Sanjeev Kumar, Davinder Singh, Joginder Patel, Vipan Kang, Sandeep Sandhu, and other staff members.
