Jalandhar: In a significant breakthrough, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police led by Commissioner of Police Mr Swapan Sharma has uncovered a unit of manufacturing illegal weapons by nabbing a person and recovering 10 country-made pistols from him.
Giving details, the Commissioner of Police said that the Police had got a tip off a city based man was involved in arrested an individual involved in the manufacturing of illegal country-made pistols, commonly known as Desi Katta. Subsequently, he said that the Police laid a trap and arrested the man identified as Harjinder Singh, alias Giyani, r/o Kott Mohalla, Jalandhar. Mr Swapan Sharma said that Harjinder is a minor and has been involved in this Bussiness since long adding that his forward and backward linkages are being traced.
The Commissioner of Police said that Police has recovered 10 country-made pistols (Desi Katta), a cutting iron machine, a drill machine, various other tools used for the illegal manufacturing of pistols and activa without registered number plate. He said that FIR No. 8 Date: 09.02.2025 Sections: 25(8), 25(1)AA-54-59, Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Division No. 5, Jalandhar. Mr Swapan Sharma said that further investigation into the case is going on and details will be shared later.
