Chandigarh: The Third Renewable Energy and Electric Vehicle (REV) Expo, organized by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) in collaboration with Eventage, was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, Municipal Commissioner, UT Chandigarh.
During the inaugural address, Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, emphasized the significant role of electric vehicles (EVs) and solar power in addressing climate change. He highlighted that the synergy between these two technologies is instrumental in shaping a sustainable future. He further stated that Chandigarh has established itself as a "Green City" by actively embracing solar power. The adoption of solar panels by government buildings and residential sectors has significantly contributed to reducing the dependency on fossil fuels, leading to cleaner air and a healthier environment.
Dr. Rajesh Prasad, Zonal Manager, Punjab National Bank (PNB), Chandigarh, underscored the importance of energy self-sufficiency in national progress. He noted that while certain companies generate energy, a large portion of India’s 1.4 billion population consumes it. However, with initiatives like the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, this trend is being reversed, empowering consumers to become energy producers through solar panel installations. Dr. Prasad highlighted India's leadership in solar energy and reiterated PNB's commitment to supporting green initiatives. He stated that PNB provides subsidized loans for solar projects and collaborates with solar companies at the district level to expand the initiative. Furthermore, he emphasized that PNB is a leader in green field projects, extending financial assistance to young entrepreneurs and women without collateral, in alignment with the vision of a developed India by 2047.
Sh. Madhusudan Vij, Chair, Chandigarh Chapter, PHDCCI, stated that over 50 solar energy and charging station companies are participating in the expo. Additionally, 100 companies, including Maruti Suzuki and Mahindra, are showcasing their latest innovations in the three-day event.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Suvrat Khanna, Co-Chair, Chandigarh Chapter, PHDCCI, highlighted the transformative role of EVs in promoting sustainable and low-carbon transportation. He emphasized that EV adoption contributes to reducing air pollution, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and enhancing energy efficiency.
Adv Lokesh Jain, Co-Chair, Haryana State Chapter, PHDCCI described the REV Expo as a crucial step towards a greener and more sustainable future, noting that the EV revolution will accelerate the transition towards smarter and environmentally friendly cities. He also expressed his gratitude to the event partners for their continued support.
The expo serves as a significant platform to promote advancements in renewable energy and electric mobility, fostering collaboration and innovation in the sector.
