SHIMLA: Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla inaugurated the State-Level Haroli Utsav at Haroli in Una district, in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri last evening. The Governor formally commenced the celebrations by performing the ceremonial worship of the sacred flame of the Temple Trust of Mata Shri Chintpurni Jee.
Lady Governor Janaki Shukla was also present on the occasion. While extending his greetings on the occasion, he said that Haroli Utsav was a vibrant reflection of our rich cultural heritage, folk traditions, and social unity. Himachal Pradesh is famous across the country for its rich folk culture, traditions, and the festivals here play a vital role in preserving and promoting the same, he stated.
To continue till Tuesday, the Governor appreciated the theme of this year’s Utsav, 'Nasha Nivaran,' and said that the message of "Drug-Free Una-Drug-Free Himachal" was not just a slogan but a commitment towards ensuring a brighter future for the youth. He called upon the young generation to stay away from drugs and ensure their participation in education, sports, and various cultural activities.
Expressing grief over the killing of innocent civilians by terrorists in Pahalgam, the Governor stated that terrorism was the greatest enemy of humanity, and reiterated the need for a strong and unified fight against it. He assured full support for the development of Himachal Pradesh and expressed willingness to take up proposals with the Central Government for the state's progress.
Earlier, the Governor participated in a traditional procession and inaugurated the developmental exhibition organized by various departments. He also released a souvenir brought out by the Utsav Committee and honored the winners of sports competitions.
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri welcomed the Governor and highlighted the efforts being made to make Haroli a model constituency, reiterating his strong commitment towards a drug-free society.
The event was also attended by MLA Sudarshan Babloo, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the Haroli Utsav Organizing Committee Jatin Lal, Secretary to the Governor Shri C.P. Verma, Superintendent of Police Rakesh Singh, and other dignitaries.
