SAS Nagar: A sum of Rs 942.64 lakh was given to as many as 1890 beneficiaries of the district during the district level function organized at the district administrative complex under Pradhan Mantri Shahri Awas Yojana. The event was virtually organised with the state level function chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann at Ludhiana.
Officials and beneficiaries present during the district level event participated in the state level event through video conferencing where Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann released an amount of Rs 101 crore under Pradhan Mantri Shahri Awas Yojana for 25 thousand urban poor families. Under the scheme, an amount of Rs.01.75 lakh has been given to each beneficiary.
Divulging more details, Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain said that the state government is fulfilling all the promises made to the people. She said that this amount reaches the beneficiary in phased installments through direct transfer to their accounts. The first installment is of Rs 12,500 while the second is of Rs 01 lakh, the third one Rs 32,500 and Rs 30,000.
The Deputy Commissioner said that house is a basic need of every human being, the absence of which is a major problem for humans and the Punjab government is committed to solve the problems of the people and the district administration is continuously working in this direction.
Meanwhile, she said that in the future, more Kachcha houses will be taken under the scheme and repairs will also be done as per the need. She said that the Punjab government is committed to the development and upliftment of every section.
On this occasion, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Mrs Navjot Kaur, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Damanjit Singh Mann, officials of various departments and beneficiaries were present.
