Ferozepur: DLSA helped a visually impaired candidate of Home for the Blind, Brij Mohan, who was selected in Local Bodies Government, Punjab, as Safai Karamchari VH category by giving it a practical shape under NALSA Scheme Legal Services for Mentally Ill and Handicapped Personal Scheme 2015. Earlier, he along with other five candidates was denied appointment on the issue of ‘domicile certificate’ against the 332 reserved posts of Safai Karamcharis VH category.
Earlier, Brij Mohan along with other five visually impaired candidates in the state, were denied formal appointment letter on the issue of domicile certificate issued by the Tehsildar of Punjab being studied and stayed at Home for the Blind for more than 15 years. The issue was taken up by the management, NGO, and Progressive Federation for the Blind with the government and by DLSA when brought to its notice.
Added here, Home for the Blind is presenting providing free lodging, boarding 37 visually impaired persons. Around 30 are school and college going pursuing Plus One onwards in the nearby college besides giving them music, braille and other sports training.
Ekta Uppal, CJM-cum-Secretary said, the issue was brought to the notice of District Legal Services Authority, Ferozepur and under instructions of Virinder Aggarwal, District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, DLSA, the matter was taken up at personal level by calling on phone and deputing the Retainer Advocate to take up the matter with the concerned authority.
Ultimately, all the six visually impaired candidates including Brij Mohan got the formal appointment letter to join the Local Bodies Department with posting at Municipal Corporation at Amritsar. The other five candidates who got the appointment are Talwinder Singh of Hoshiarpur, Renu Bala of Phagwara, Rajiv Kumar of Jalandhar, Sandeep Sharma of Amritsar and Amit Kumar of Roopnagar
Brij Mohan who was feeling happy on getting the regular appointment letter in the Punjab government, thanked all those who have helped him, especially Ekta Uppal, CJM-cum-Secretary, DLSA, who took the matter with the concerned authorities at personal level, in getting the appointment letter not only me, but all the six leftover candidates.
