AAP Launches Scathing Attack on BJP Over Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s Statue

Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the issue of Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s statue at Chandigarh Airport. AAP MP Malvinder Singh Kang said that the BJP wanted to name Chandigarh Airport after their Haryana leader Mangal Singh, but thanks to the efforts of the Mann government, the airport was named after Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh.

Kang questioned BJP leaders, saying, "After so many years, BJP is now raising the issue of Bhagat Singh’s statue. I want to ask them why they opposed naming the airport after Shaheed Bhagat Singh during their 10 years in power with the Akali Dal?"

He added that after coming to power, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann initiated the process of naming Mohali Airport after Shaheed Bhagat Singh and also installed his statue there. The Chief Minister is set to inaugurate the statue very soon. Kang accused the BJP of making an unnecessary issue out of it, stating that petty politics over the names of martyrs is inappropriate.

Highlighting the RSS's historical opposition to Bhagat Singh, Kang said, "Today, BJP seems concerned about Bhagat Singh. However, the truth is that their people testified against him back then. It is shocking that BJP leaders are now invoking Bhagat Singh’s name! The fact is, they have harbored hatred against Bhagat Singh’s name from the beginning."

Kang further stated that BJP is trying to mislead the people of Punjab by using Bhagat Singh’s name, but the people of Punjab are well aware of BJP’s anti-Punjab stance. "These theatrics will no longer impact the people of Punjab. The BJP has been completely exposed. The people will never trust the BJP again," he concluded.
