Chandigarh:Former Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij today advised wrestler Vinesh Phogat against retiring, stating, "Vinesh Phogat should not give up because sports always involve both victory and defeat. What she could not achieve now should be accomplished in the next Olympics, as the country has high expectations from her."

Vij was replying to a question asked by the media persons today. Following Vinesh Phogat's announcement of retirement after being disqualified from the Paris Olympics, he advised her to continue her efforts. He recounted a childhood poem, "King Bruce and the Spider," which illustrates a king who, after repeated failures, sees a spider climbing a wall despite many attempts, suggesting Vinesh should also persist.

"Hooda Should Give 6 Crore Rupees to Vinesh Phogat from His Own" – Vij

Former Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had stated that if his position was stronger, he would have seated Vinesh in the Rajya Sabha. Commenting on this, former Home Minister Anil Vij said, "Hooda ji always makes promises and assurances that cannot be fulfilled. He had announced a reward of 6 crore rupees for winning a gold medal at the Olympics. Hooda should give that amount to Vinesh Phogat from his own share, but he will not do it. He (Bhupinder Singh Hooda) makes promises he cannot fulfill, he said."

"Only Defeated People Make Such Statements" – Vij

Attacking opposition leaders, Vij said, "It is unfortunate that some leaders born in the democracy of this country are talking about incidents similar to those in Bangladesh happening in India. These are people who have no faith in the country's democracy. Defeated individuals who cannot achieve their goals democratically are making such statements."

"Leaders Who Incite and Stir Up Violence Will Never Succeed" – Vij

Responding to such leaders, Vij said, "I want to inform them that India’s democracy is the largest and strongest democracy in the world. It has the capacity to defend itself. Leaders who are attempting to incite and provoke violence will never succeed. Every citizen of India is ready to sacrifice their lives to protect democracy, but no harm will come to our democracy."

"Nothing Can Undermine India’s Democracy" – Vij
