"Triumph for truth:" AAP's Harpal Singh Cheema welcomes Kejriwal's bail

New Delhi : Welcoming the Supreme Court's decision to grant bail to Aam Aadmi Party convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab minister and AAP leader Harpal Singh Cheema said that this is a triumph for truth.

"First of all, thanks to the Supreme Court that granted bail to AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal in a false case by the BJP. I think this is a triumph for truth. The truth can't be suppressed, it has to come out one day," said the AAP leader.

Welcoming the bail order former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said that the order had showed that the Constitution would act as a shield no matter who is in power. "Nothing is above the Constitution in India.

The Supreme Court's decision is not just for Arvind Kejriwal but it is an assurance that no matter who comes as a dictator, the Constitution of our country is there as a shield... It has been proven today that the arrest by the CBI was to halt the bail in the ED case... Arvind Kejriwal has Lord Ram's blessings and the shield of the Constitution... 'Sacchai aur kattar Imandari hamesha josh mein rehti hai," Sisodia said.

Delhi minister and AAP leader Gopal Rai said, "Congratulations to everyone. Delhi CM is coming out now. There is joy among people. This has sent a message across Delhi and the entire country that dictatorship loses one day, however strong it might be..."

AAP MLA Kuldeep Kumar said, "All the conspiracies against him have now failed. This is a big victory that the Supreme Court has granted him the bail. The whole fake scam is now out... There will be a huge celebration when the son of Delhi will arrive..."

The Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a corruption case registered by CBI in the alleged excise policy scam. The Supreme Court said prolonged incarceration amounts to unjust deprivation of liberty.

Earlier, the apex court had reserved the verdict on September 5 after hearing counsels representing Kejriwal and CBI. Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21, 2024, in connection with a money laundering probe relating to alleged irregularities in the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy 2021-22. On June 26, 2024, AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by CBI while he was in custody of the Enforcement Directorate in the excise case.
