Minister & DC review, paddy procurement arrangements

SUNAM: Punjab Cabinet Minister, Aman Arora, along with Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Sandeep Rishi today reviewed the procurement arrangements for paddy at the new grain market here today. On this occasion, the Cabinet Minister & Deputy Commissioner held a meeting with the representatives of Arhtia and Sheller association told them about the percentage of moisture in paddy, reiterated that all farmers should be made aware that only crops with less than 17% moisture should be brought to the grain markets, so that the farmers' crops can be purchased simultaneously.


The cabinet minister said that cumin with more than 17% moisture content should not be brought to the markets and following the guidelines in this regard paddy should not be harvested by combines from 6 PM to 10 AM the next morning. He said that extensive arrangements have been made by the district administration for government procurement, lifting and storage of this dry paddy.

 

Mr. Arora said that the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Bhagwant Singh Mann is fully committed to purchase the dry paddy grain being brought by the farmers in the grain markets of the district and the district administration has made adequate arrangements in this regard. He said that in the grain markets of the district, any class related to the procurement of paddy, including farmers, workers and sheller owners will not be allowed to face any kind of problem.


On this occasion, the DC said that farmers, by meetings and other awareness programs from time to time were appealed that paddy should not be harvested through combines in the evening and the orders of the District Magistrate are in force in this regard. If any farmer or combine operator found violating the rules, his combine will be forfeited for the entire season. Besides others, Market Committee Sunam Chairman, Mukesh Janeja; DSP, Harvinder Singh Khaira; Rajan Hodla, President Aarti Association; other personalities including Ravi Kamal Goyal, Amrik Singh Dhaliwal, Manpreet Bansal and Shiv Pal were also present on the occasion.
