Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar continues to inspire generations: VC KUK

Kurukshetra: Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Study Centre Kurukshetra University organized a one-day national seminar on "Dr B.R. Ambedkar in the Constituent Assembly: His Role and His Influence." During the inaugural session of this seminar, Vice Chancellor, Kurukshetra University Prof. Som Nath Sachdeva, in his presidential address said that Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar continues to inspire generations and besides being the architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr Ambedkar was also an immortal champion of social harmony.

 

The Chief Guest of the seminar, social thinker from New Delhi, Mukul Kanitkar said that to understand the greatness and contribution of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, it is necessary to read his original letters. Mukul Kanitkar further said that the book written on Ambedkar's life by Dhananjay Keer is based on his original letters, speeches and authentic sources. Kanitkar added that there is no statue of any Indian except Dr. Ambedkar in Columbia University. Dr. Ambedkar's statue is installed in Columbia University not as a Dalit leader but as the best student of the year of Columbia University.

 

Kanitkar added that Dr Ambedkar did remarkable work of bringing freedom, equality, dignity, fraternity and social harmony through the Constitution. The Keynote speaker, Prof. Sanjay Sindhu, Faculty of Law, HP University, Shimla said that Dr. Ambedkar was an introduction, a feeling, an identity, a sensitivity, a thought, a politician, an economist, an imagination, an expert and a judicial scholar.

 


Guest of Honour, Prof. Shakti Singh, President, Centre for Economic Studies and Planning, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi said that it was because of the presence of Dr. Ambedkar in the Constituent Assembly that India became Bharat Rashtra. Seminar Coordinator and Director Dr Ambedkar Study Centre, Dr. Pritam Singh, gave the outline of the seminar theme. On this occasion, Dr. Rishi Goyal, Prof. DS Rana, Prof. Vinod Kumar, Prof. Tajinder Sharma, Prof. Suresh Kumar, Prof. Vivek Chawla, Prof. Mahasingh Poonia, Dr. Sombir Jakhar, Dr. Anand, Dr. Neeraj Batish, Dr. Ramchandra, Dr. Telu Ram, Yudhishthir Bahl, Dr. Divij Gugnani, Dr. Digvijay, Dr. Angrej along with advocates, researchers and students were present.
