Kurukshetra: The valedictory function of 3 day International Conference on "Innovative Trends in Statistics, Optimization, and Data Science" (IC-ITSODS-2024), organized by the Department of Statistics and Operational Research, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, from December 21 to 23, 2024, in conjunction with the 44th Annual Convention of the Indian Society for Probability and Statistics (ISPS) and the 8th Convention of the Indian Association for Reliability and Statistics (IARS), was held at Senate Hall, KUK.
Vice Chancellor, KUK, Prof Som Nath Sachdeva congratulated the entire organising team of this conference and said that this conference achieved its goal of dissemination of knowledge and experience proficiently.
The Chief Guest, Dean, Academic Affairs KUK, Prof Dinesh Kumar said that in the modern times, medicine, science, research, biology, sports field, physical fields can not progress without the application of statistics and data science. Prof Dinesh added that Data analysis and Statistics have a remarkable contribution for NIRF ranking and NAAC evaluation in educational institutions.
Guest of Honour, Prof. P. Rajasekhara Reddy from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati said that Data Science Centre building is being constructed with the help of Tirupati Temple. IARS and ISPS President, Prof. SC Malik said that data science has a significant role in modern world. Director, Conference, Prof M.S.Kadyan, in his vote of thanks, extended heartfelt gratitude to Kurukshetra University for its unwavering support, as well as to sponsors such as the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM), Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), DRDO, RBI, and the Department of Higher Education, Haryana.
Deputy Director, PRO, KUK, Dr.Jimmy Sharma informed that in this valedictory function, Prof. K Srinivasa Rao Best Researcher Award was given to Prof. Gajendra Kumar Vishwakarma of IIT Dhanbad, Prof. CR Rao Gold Medal was given to Dr. Suchandan Kayal of NIT Rourkela, Prof. AR Kamat Best Thesis Award was given to Dr. Anjana Mondal of IIT Tirupati and Young Statistician Award, Prof. MN Deshpande Memorial Award were also given. Conference Organizing Secretary, Dr Jitender Kumar presented the Conference report and informed that conference hosted 22 Plenary sessions , 47 Invited sessions and 43 technical sessions, with over 400 research papers presentations and distinguished resource persons from 15 countries alongside scholars from 26 states.
