Haryana Govt Imposes Ban on transfers of officers and employees involved in Municipal Elections

Chandigarh: The Haryana government has issued instructions to impose a ban on the transfer or appointment of state government officers and employees involved in the municipal elections, which are scheduled to be held on March 2 and 9. This ban will remain in effect until the declaration of election results. However, if it is deemed necessary to transfer any officer or employee associated with the elections, prior written approval from the State Election Commission will be mandatory. Chief Secretary Dr. Vivek Joshi has issued orders to this effect today.

It is noteworthy that general elections are scheduled to be held for the Mayors and councilors of all wards in 8 MC's, as well as for the Presidents and councilors of all wards in 4 Municipal Councils and 21 Municipalities. Elections will also be held for the post of Mayor in the Municipal Corporations of Ambala and Sonipat, President of Municipal Council Sohna (Gurugram), Municipal Committee Assandh (Karnal), and Ismailabad (Kurukshetra).
