Dr Baljit Kaur, Gurmeet Singh Khudian pay tributes to martyrs at National Martyrs Memorial Hussainiwala

Ferozepur: On the occasion of Shaheedi Diwas, people from across the country gathered at Hussainiwala to pay homage to the martyrs Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev. The event witnessed heartfelt tributes and floral offerings by citizens dressed in traditional attire.

 

Punjab's Cabinet Ministers, Dr. Baljit Kaur (Minister for Social Security, Women and Child Development, Empowerment, and Minorities) and Gurmeet Singh Khudian (Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Dairy Development, Agriculture, and Farmer Welfare), visited the National Martyrs Memorial at Hussainiwala to offer their respects. They were joined by MLAs Ranbir Singh Bhullar, Rajnish Dahiya, and Fauja Singh Sarari, who also paid homage to the national heroes.

 

Dr. Baljit Kaur emphasized the significance of the sacred land where these brave martyrs were cremated after their sacrifice. She highlighted the need for the youth to follow Bhagat Singh's ideology, stating that his revolutionary thoughts were not just about weapons but about shaping ideas. She also mentioned the Punjab government's initiative under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to organize revolutionary fairs across the state in memory of the martyrs.

 

Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian expressed pride in paying tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation's freedom. He reiterated the responsibility of fulfilling Bhagat Singh's dreams and announced a budget of Rs.25 crore for reviving the light and sound show at the memorial and promoting tourism.

 

The event also featured kabaddi matches organized by the Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev Memorial Society, along with a symbolic gesture of soil brought from Pune by the martyrs' family members, which was placed at the memorial.

 

Dignitaries including Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma, SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, and other officials from various departments were present to honour the martyrs. The event received an overwhelming response from the public, reflecting their deep respect and admiration for the nation's heroes.
