Senior players came forward to promote Gully Cricket Tournament

Chandigarh, Senior players of Chandigarh cricket team have come forward to promote the event in the series of Allengers Gully Cricket Tournament which is commencing from July 26. UT Cricket Association (UTCA) organised a series of flash mobs to engage locals especially youth at many public places this weekend and motivated them to be a part of the tournament. The senior players like Manan Vohra, Arsalan Khan, Ankit Kaushik, Arjun Azad, Bhagminder Lather, Kashvee Gautam and others played dummy cricket in the markets of Sector 15, 19, outside Elante Mall and near Sector 17 Neelam Cinema and invited the audience to be part of tournament. Children were bearing placards with social messages related to balla ghumao, nasha bhagao.

 

UTCA President Sanjay Tandon said that with these flash mobs, people are not only apprised about the tournament but are also getting awareness on the aftermaths of drug addiction from the cricketers. These cricketers are also spreading the message of staying fit through their own fitness. City’s children between 14 to18 years old can participate in the tournament as the last date for registration is July 22. The final of the tournament will be held on August 11. The organizers are trying to get this event registered in the Asia Book of Records with the massive participation of around 3456 players. The tournament is well supported by Chandigarh Police, Education, Sports, Social Welfare Department and Municipal Corporation.
