CHANDIGARH: UT Chandigarh, 02nd September 2024: In a vibrant display of community engagement and commitment to improving nutritional outcomes, the 7th Rashtriya POSHAN Maah 2024 was celebrated across all 450 Anganwadi Centres in Chandigarh. The campaign, part of the POSHAN Abhiyaan, aims to enhance the well-being of pregnant women, lactating mothers, adolescent girls, and children under six years of age through holistic nutritional support and behavioral change.
The celebrations featured a series of impactful events, including the "Godhbharai" community based event at Anganwadi Building Sector 24, where pregnant women received POSHTIK Thalis—nutritious meals comprising green leafy vegetables grown in the POSHAK Vatika. Additionally, Iron and Folic Acid tablets were distributed to support maternal health. The event was inaugurated by Smt. Anuradha S. Chagti, Secretary Social Welfare, Women and Child Development Chandigarh Administration and Dr. Palika Arora, Director Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, Chandigarh Administration.
Another key highlight was the demonstration of the POSHTIK Thali at Anganwadi Building Bapu Dham, accompanied by a lecture from Child Development Project Officer-I on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The session also included the distribution of Iron and Folic Acid tablets by health workers. POSHAN Rally was also organized in RC Dhanas-I, which aimed at spreading awareness about healthy eating habits. 60 number of Persons participated in the rally.
Various educational activities were conducted across all 450 Anganwadi Centres, including youth group meetings, lectures on diarrhea prevention, and the importance of clean water. Counseling sessions addressed topics like anemia, the nutritional needs during pregnancy, and menstrual hygiene. Furthermore, home visits were carried out to provide personalized guidance to adolescent girls, nursing mothers, and pregnant women on managing anemia, SAM/MAM children, and preparing for childbirth.
POSHAN Maah 2024 underscores the ultimate goal of achieving better health outcomes through comprehensive nutritional support and community-driven behavioral change. The collaborative efforts reflect a robust commitment to fostering a healthier future for Chandigarh's families. The various activities will be organized at all the 450 Anganwadi Centres during POSHAN Maah 2024 till 30th September 2024.
