Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi’s Former Chairman Dr. Naresh awarded with Ram Murti Pratibha Alankaran-2024

Chandigarh: The Shri Ram Murti Smarak Trust (SRMS), Bareilly, has honored Naresh, a well-known personality of literature of the city, with the prestigious Ram Murti Pratibha Alankaran-2024 award.

This esteemed recognition comes in light of Dr Naresh’s unparalleled contributions to the fields of literature and spirituality, showcasing his lifelong dedication and impact in these areas.

The felicitation ceremony was held during the Trust’s ‘Shradhanjali Samaroh’ at UP’s Bareilly.

Dr Naresh, a former Professor of Modern Literature at Panjab University, Chandigarh and ex- Chairman of Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi, is a celebrated Urdu poet whose contribution to literature has been acknowledged internationally.

He holds a postgraduate degree in Urdu and Hindi and a PhD on the poetry of these two languages.

Sharing his thoughts, Dr Naresh said: “This recognition, the Ram Murti Pratibha Alankaran, reflects the Trust’s commitment to honouring individuals who have made significant contributions in their respective fields, embodying the spirit and vision of its founder, Shri Ram Murti Ji. I am happy to be among them.”

It is pertinent to mention here that Dr Naresh’s odyssey in the world of letters started in 1963 with his book ‘Gham-e-Farda’ containing his musings on the future.

Since then there has been no looking back for him. With the award received at Bareilly Dr Naresh has added another feather to his illustrious cap – with this honour the total number of awards in his kitty, to date, have swelled to 43.

It is noteworthy that Dr Naresh has been felicitated with a ‘National Award’ from the Government of India. Apart from this his poetry book titled ‘Khushboo Ka Safar’ got him the All India Mir Academy Award as well as an award of the U.P Urdu Academy.

Apart from this, he has also been honoured with 'Shiromani Sahityakar Award' by the Government of Punjab and 'Lifetime Achievement Award' by the Government of Haryana.

The Shri Ram Murti Smarak Trust, Bareilly, was established in memory of the veteran freedom fighter, ex-parliamentarian, ex-minister U.P. and a philanthropist Shri Ram Murti.In keeping with its founder’s vision the Trust’s contribution in promoting literature, poetry and art has been significant.

The felicitation by the Trust is a notable achievement of the Chandigarh based literary stalwart - Dr Naresh.
