Farmers must obtain bills when purchasing fertilizers, pesticides or seeds: Moga DC

November 04, 2024 04:57 PM

Moga: Moga Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal has appealed to farmers to ensure they collect a bill when buying fertilizers, pesticides, or seeds. If any dealer refuses to provide a bill, farmers should file a written complaint with the concerned Block Agriculture Officer or the Chief Agriculture Officer, Moga.

He stated that legal action under the Fertilizer Control Order, 1985, will be taken against any shopkeeper found selling fertilizers, pesticides, or seeds without a bill during inspections.

He also directed seed vendors to refrain from selling any unnecessary items to farmers along with fertilizers, pesticides, or seeds. He emphasized that shopkeepers or any other entities involved in black marketing these agricultural supplies will not be spared and will face exemplary punishment and fines.

Dr. Sukhraj Kaur Deol, Chief Agriculture Officer, has urged farmers to use other available phosphatic fertilizers for timely wheat sowing. She informed that, besides DAP, Triple Super Phosphate (46%) is being supplied for wheat sowing. The department is continuously coordinating with fertilizer supply companies to address the phosphorus fertilizer shortage in the district.

She explained that DAP contains 18% nitrogen and 46% phosphorus. As an alternative, straight phosphatic fertilizers and NPK complex fertilizers are available in the market.

Notably, Triple Super Phosphate contains 46% phosphorus. If farmers opt to use Triple Super Phosphate (46%), they can apply 20 kg of urea per acre at the time of sowing to match the nitrogen and phosphorus levels provided by DAP.

Alternatively, for sowing, farmers can use 20 kg of urea and 155 kg of Single Super Phosphate (16% phosphorus) per acre to meet nitrogen and phosphorus requirements for the wheat crop.

In addition, NPK fertilizers containing nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium—such as NPK 16-16-16, NPK 15-15-15, NPK 12-32-16, 10-26-26, urea ammonium phosphate 24-24-0, and ammonium phosphate sulfate 20-20-0-13—can also be used.
