Kurukshetra University organized Vijay Diwas Silver Jubilee Programme to honour Kargil warriors

Kurukshetra: Dean Students' Welfare Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra organised Vijay Diwas Silver Jubilee Programme to arrange an interaction between the army personnel and the students in the Senate Hall. On this occasion, the chief guest of this programme, Indian Army's Additional Director General Artillery Major General Arvind Yadav said that the community should always remember the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country and respect pride and valour of the soldiers and their families.


KU Alumnus Major General Arvind Yadav thanked KU Vice Chancellor Prof. Som Nath Sachdeva for organizing the programme. He urged to include Military Science and Military Studies in the syllabus of educational institutions so that the young generation could know and respect the sacrifice and saga of bravery of the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country. Along with this, he talked about promoting NCC and appealed to the youth to serve the country by staying disciplined.


Dean of Students' Welfare, Prof. A.K. Chaudhri welcomed and felicitated Major General Arvind Yadav, 36 members of the D-5 motorcycle team, family members of the martyrs and Kargil warriors and said that the youth need to take inspiration from the sacrifices made by the martyrs and bravery of the soldiers. The stage was conducted by Dr. Atul Yadav. He informed that the 10,000 kilometer journey of the 36 members of the D-5 motorcycle team will conclude in Dras.


Deputy Director of Public Relations Department KUK Dr Jimmy Sharma said that in the programme, Parvati Devi, mother of Kargil martyr soldier Sanjeev Kumar, Simarjit Kaur, wife of martyr Naik Jaswinder Singh, Mero Devi, mother of martyr soldier Gulab Singh, Kamlesh Devi, mother of martyr Rifleman Parvesh Kumar and Naik Subedar Swarn Singh who lost both his legs in the Kargil war were honored and all of them were given Rs. 35 thousand and a shawl as a mark of respect.


Deputy Director PRO KUK Dr Jimmy Sharma further said that in this programme, Kargil warriors of Kurukshetra, Subedar Major (Honorary Captain) Surendra Mohan Sharma, Subedar Major (Honorary Captain) Gurmel Singh, Subedar Ravindra Kaushik, Sepoy Satnam Singh, Havildar Mukesh, Naik Bahadur Singh, Subedar Major Gurmeet Singh, Havildar Raj Singh, Subedar Major Karam Singh, Havildar Karamchand, Subedar Major (Honorary Captain) Gurmeet Singh, Honorary Captain Baljit Singh, Naik Balbir Singh and Havildar Satpal Singh were honoured. On this occasion, Dr. Harvinder Rana presented his book "Kabhi to Aa Jana" to Major General Arvind Yadav.


On this occasion, Prof. DS Rana, Prof. Brajesh Sawhney, Prof. Vivek Chawla, IIHS Principal Prof. Rita Dalal, Prof. Kusumlata, Honorary Secretary of KDB Upendra Singhal, Captain Paramjit Singh, Ashok Rosha, Dr. MK Modgil, Dr. Anand, Dr. Virender Pal, RR Sharma of District Sainik Board along with the family members of Kargil martyrs, Kargil warriors, NCC cadets and representatives of religious and social organizations were present.
