Chandigarh: Punjab Cabinet Minister Lalchand Kataruchakk launched a fierce attack on the Congress party, accusing it of political opportunism and double standards on issues related to farmers, industrial growth, and Punjab’s overall development. The Minister called out Congress for its failure to support farmers and for playing politics to derail Punjab’s progress.
Congress’s Hypocrisy on Farmers’ Issues
Minister Kataruchakk pointed out Congress’s hollow posturing on farmers' issues, stating, “With 99 Members of Parliament, Congress must explain why its MPs failed to raise the farmers' concerns in Parliament during the farm agitation. They remained silent in the Lok Sabha when farmers were sitting on roads. Today, Congress protests outside Parliament, but Punjab’s people are asking: where was Congress when the farmers needed them the most?”
He further questioned Congress’s broken promises, stating, “During its tenure in Punjab, Congress promised to waive farmers’ loans. Where are the results? Let Congress show how many farmers’ debts they waived. Instead, their government indulged in scams, including the misuse of the Rural Development Fund, meant for building roads. This misuse has directly impacted Punjab’s economic growth.”
Congress Sabotaging Punjab’s Industrial Growth
Highlighting Congress’s anti-industry stance, Kataruchakk said, “Punjab’s economy relies on trade and industry. Congress must clarify whether it supports trade and industrial growth in Punjab or opposes it. By blocking roads and encouraging protests, Congress is discouraging industries from investing in Punjab, thereby denying jobs to Punjab’s youth.”
He lauded the Bhagwant Mann government’s efforts to create an encouraging environment for industries, stating, “By clearing blocked roads peacefully, the AAP government has ensured that Punjab becomes a hub for industrial growth. This step will provide employment to Punjab’s youth, steering them away from drugs and toward a brighter future.”
Exposing Congress’s “Drama Culture”
Minister Kataruchakk accused Congress of exploiting public sentiments for political gains. “Congress has always used emotional theatrics to mislead people. Their so-called support for farmers is just another drama to gain relevance. During their rule, they nurtured mafias in mining, drugs, and transport, while the people of Punjab suffered.”
He added, “Congress’s true face is one of betrayal and corruption. Their leadership has repeatedly failed to stand for the people. Today, the people of Punjab are aware of Congress’s anti-people agenda, and they won’t be fooled by their masks of false sympathy.”
AAP Government Committed to Punjab
Reaffirming AAP’s dedication to Punjab, Kataruchakk said, “The Aam Aadmi Party government under CM Bhagwant Mann is working tirelessly to ensure peace, employment, and progress in Punjab. Whether it was standing with farmers during the farm laws agitation or tackling drug abuse today, AAP has always been on the side of Punjab’s people.”
The Minister concluded by stating, “Congress needs to come clean about its stance. Is it against Punjab’s trade and industry? Does it want Punjab to fail? The AAP government will continue to work for the welfare of Punjab and its people, despite Congress’s attempts to derail the state’s progress.”
