‘Meri Policy, Mere Haath’ Campaign Empowers Bilaspur Farmers with Crop Insurance

Bilaspur:  In a significant step towards securing farmers’ livelihoods, the ‘Meri Policy, Mere Haath’ campaign under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) was launched in Bilaspur, ensuring that farmers receive their crop insurance policies directly at their doorsteps. The campaign,  will continue until March 15.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Dr. Nidhi Patel, with representatives from the Agriculture Insurance Company actively distributing policies to insured farmers.

With 16,024 farmers insuring wheat crops on 5,370 hectares of land, this initiative marks an increase in participation compared to last year’s 15,310 insured farmers, showing a rising awareness among farmers regarding the importance of crop insurance. The scheme is designed to protect farmers from natural calamities, ensuring financial security and resilience against unpredictable losses.

During the campaign, it was also announced that the restructured Weather-Based Insurance Scheme will be implemented for ginger crops starting May 1. This new provision aims to safeguard ginger farmers from adverse weather conditions, further strengthening agricultural risk management in the region.

Speaking at the launch, ADC Dr. Nidhi Patel highlighted the transformative impact of crop insurance, emphasizing that risk-free farming is key to economic self-reliance. Farmers were urged to take advantage of the scheme, ensuring their crops remain protected from unforeseen weather hazards.

 

With this initiative, the district administration reinforces its commitment to farmer welfare, promoting financial stability and agricultural sustainability in Bilaspur.
